Any professional weight lifter would smile appreciatively when he sees you have Olympic bumper plates because he or she knows you're serious in your weight training. There are many reasons why having your own barbell and some plates are are called for. An individual could be buffing up for a sport or to increase their power or their strength to weight ratio.

Still others could be joining an actual Olympic weightlifting competition or other forms of lifting competition like strongman or cross fit. No matter what your goal is, you need to have your own barbell and bumper plates. They are critical to achieving your goal in any weight lifting routine.

Largely, many people make the mistake of training with only metal plates. Where bumper plates allow tossing them down, metal plates always have to be gently placed down on the floor. You wouldn't want to buy a low-down cheap pair and bear witness to their break down after a few months of usage, would you? You have to consider that with these kinds of equipment, its an investment wherein you expect some cash in return when you want to resell them some time in the future. After a while you still do not want to sell it or gain money from it, why not help out your local gym by donating it to them or handing them down to your children.

You will have to have a barbell to throw on those Olympic bumper plates, assuming, of course, you already own them for some time now. Thriftiness should be thrown out the window when buying weight plates and barbells. Be assured that if you buy quality weights, with the proper care, hey can last you for a very long time.quality. Watching a bar bend out of shape for good as you loaded it up with just a couple of a hundred is, quite simply, unacceptable. A commendable quality barbell will rifle at least one hundred and fifty dollars from you. However,  plan on spending three hundred to five hundred dollars if you want the bar to out live you. The next higher quality to that would cost you between three hundred to five hundred dollars. This one will out live you. There are bars out there that go as high as a thousand dollars, therefore, purchasing a bar that will last more than a life time isn't such a bad idea. Your bar could probably go for about a hundred dollars after about 10 years of lifting is you so decide to stop it after that time.
